Frustrating and ultimately unsatisfying, despite being quite well-written and a snappy read. The ending is just so perfunctory and so much of a cop-out that I can't really recommend the book - and it does, indeed, have recommendable qualities. I'm even feeling mentally blocked right now, trying to express my... not disappointment but just general feeling of having been looking at something and carrying it around and then realizing that it actually didn't exist, it was a puff of smoke in the wind.
