Bring Up the Bodies

Bring Up the Bodies (Thomas Cromwell, #2) - Hilary Mantel It is just as terrific as its predecessor - because it pulls off the feat of following it perfectly while also existing as an entirely different beast. This novel is, in many ways, a legal thriller: watch as Cromwell pieces together the mystery of Anne's 'infidelities'! Shake as she climbs the scaffold! Wonder at Henry VIII's troubled heart! I'm joking a bit but it manages to pull you to the edge of your seat with this effortless ease that even movies have a hard time nailing. You know what's going to happen, of course - but you're still waiting with bated breath to see exactly how it plays out. It is a marvel. Mantel has pulled off the incredible twice in a row - and I am more excited about the third and final novel than I have been for any novel in a very, very long time.More rhapsody at RB: http://wp.me/pGVzJ-re
