Raging Biblioholism

Hemlock Grove

Hemlock Grove - Brian McGreevy Let's get one thing straight: this book is quite a mess. The language is sometimes beautiful, sometimes stilted. There is a whole lot to take in by any standard: werewolves, vampires, monsters, psychotics, menacing corporate biotech experiments, the Rust Belt, young love, drugs, sex, parents, Gypsies... am I missing anything? Probably. But see, it's all of that stuff that makes this so endearing in a Dark Shadows or Addams Family way. It's drama and a whole freaking lot of it - so it's fun! It's somewhat trashy fun (and the writing can sometimes be incredibly cringe-worthy) but it's fun nonetheless. You could do worse for an early October read. More about it at RB: http://wp.me/pGVzJ-rF
